Firm Prepares for Trial in Mississippi Electrocution Case
March 3, 2009
Trial is scheduled to begin on May 4, 2009 in Monroe County, Mississippi on claims brought by an individual against Monroe County Electric Power Association. The claims arise from a tragic accident that occurred when a chain used by a log truck driver came into contact with a low hanging power line. The firm will present evidence that shows that the height of the power line was not in compliance with legal requirements and, had it been, the accident would not have occurred. Moreover, evidence developed during the case shows that further action should have been taken to make this particular line safe given its proximity to a known logging and agricultural operation. Had the power company complied with legal requirements regarding the safety and maintenance of this particular line the plaintiff would have never suffered any injuries.
The plaintiff's injuries are catastrophic and devastating. Severe burns were suffered all over the plaintiff's body. Subsequent treatment necessitated the amputation of the plaintiff's arm. Devastating and permanent brain injuries have left the plaintiff in need of lifetime care.
The firm looks forward to helping this victim of corporate neglect and incompetence recover for his injuries. Dennis Goldasich and Erby Fischer will serve as trial counsel.
